Feels like all I do is work!

“Another day at work - all I do is work!” - Ever say that to yourself?  What does it mean?  Are you tired?  Getting enough sleep? Bored in your job? The monotony of the constant cycle of getting up, showering, eating, driving, working, eating, sleeping, waking, getting up, showering, eating, driving, working . . . We all do lots of things every day associated with our work . . . but is work the issue or is it some other question, maybe existential in nature?

We all try to make sense of things that we experience, we try to understand and unpack the meaning and purpose of our existence. When we ask what are we doing and what shall we do about it - we are active and engaged in our
lives . . . when we say “another day” the challenge for us is to be filled with enthusiasm and excitement.  So how come some people can be positive and others negative? Examining our psychological health can help us to find the answers.

An assessment of our emotions related to work are crucial.  We need to ask ourselves “Are we fed up with work?”, “Are we depressed?”, “Are we undervalued?” “Are we not given enough freedom to be creative?” Do you dread going to work? Are you sometimes late? What is the first thing you say to yourself when you wake in the morning?  What can be done to help you to to say: “Another day at work - bring it on!”?

Happiness in work is important - not only for our time at work - but for what happens after work. Stress causes high blood pressure and it can lead to chronic or acute medical issues and it can also lead to problems in our relationships. Finding peace and contentment in our jobs, and in what we do in life, is paramount to living well and enjoying our life’s work and everything else that flows from it.
